Designed and manufactured under strict quality control conditions, the 1804 can be used with confidence as a frequency reference for both analogue and digital T.V. & radio transmission, in Cellular networks and for Telecommunications timing. Other applications include military communication systems, satellite ground stations and calibration-laboratory systems, particularly in connection with the development and manufacture of high-technology products. With over 1,400 installations worldwide, the 1804, now in its third-generation, continues to offer an unmatched combination of accuracy, functionality and reliability.

PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION

Products in this family are divided into two main groups, which are:

1804L25xxx - Quartz referenced units
1804L26xxx - Rubidium referenced units

The 1804 is available with a wide range of options; identified by a two or three-character suffix in the type number [xxx in the above examples]

The 1804L25E8A has become virtually an industry standard for numerous broadcast applications, In particular it has been successful for Digital Audio Broadcast (DAB) and Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) in Single Frequency Networks where the control of both Frequency and Timing is crucial.

The Rubidium-reference 1804L26xxx versions offer exceptional accuracy for calibration-standard work or as a Master clock for satellite control centres or Telecommunications Timing. The 'stand-alone' accuracy of the reference oscillator is more than two orders-of-magnitude higher than a Quartz-referenced unit.

PRODUCT IDENTIFICATION
Products in this series are divided into two main groups, which are:

1814Bxx are Quartz-referenced units
1814Cxx are Rubidium-referenced units

The 1814 is available with some optional features; although these are restricted to those that are relevant to Timing applications. Individual variants are identified by a two-character suffix in the type number [xx in the above examples]. In this 'Timing-only' group, the 1814B1 is the baseline product, which is equipped with a simple TCXO 'keep-alive' reference oscillator, although with Timing from the GPS, accuracy remains similar to that of the 1804.

A full-function RS232 control & monitoring port is standard, with protocols similar to those of the 1804. User-programmable Timecode is also standard (IRIG-A, or IRIG-B, or XR3, or 2137 may be selected)

Portable Precision from Rapco 7370

The Rapco 7370 Portable Calibration Unit gives precise frequency and time signals in all situations where conventional laboratory instrumentation cannot be used. 

The main features of the unit are as follows :

Retains accurate time and frequency during long periods of field use due to calibration via GPS and high quality internal oscillator.

The 900 series is a range of high-reliability modules which are used to build versatile frequency distribution systems. These microprocessor based units can be configured to provide a wide range of standard and custom time code outputs at low cost. The standard XR3 and IRIG codes are all fully supported and time may be generated from the internal oscillator giving the units free standing capability. However, for superior performance an external reference such as the 1804 or 2804 may be used.

These microprocessor based units can be configured to read a wide range of standard and custom time code inputs at low cost. The SDU10 is a 1U high x 19inch rack mount assembly that is intended for use in situations where a serial ASCII message packet, broadcast from a central source, must be connected to a number of remote equipments using separate signal cables. It is a unidirectional, one-input / ten-output buffer for handling RS232 level signals.

This flexible unit provides permanent records of Frequency system performance so that a traceability route can be established. Such data can help to prove the integrity of the use made of the system outputs. This might be to back up test results for a Certificate of Compliance or to confirm usage time on a leased communications link. Whatever the application, the TVM14 range can confirm the trust placed in a working frequency source either by reference to another trusted oscillator or to the MSF radio transmissions.

This software package is a fully featured NTP Time Server with the capability to accept an NMEA compliant GPS Time Source as its reference such as the Rapco 1804 models. A simple serial connection between a spare port on the PC nominated to be the network time server and the RS232 output on the GPS unit completes the hardware installation. On receipt of a valid NMEA time message from the GPS unit, the software will update the PC’s internal clock to the UTC content of the message received. A user specified offset can be included to match the time in the local time zone. The software then monitors the LAN ready to respond to requests for time updates from network clients.

The second part of the system consists of a software module loaded onto each network client required to be time synchronised. Each client may be configured to raise a request to the time server for a time update on a scheduled basis or simply at log in. Versions of the client module are available for Windows 95, Windows 98 and Windows NT. On receipt of the time message from the server, the internal clock of the client is adjusted as required.

User licences for the system are available in single server, single client and 20 client modules.
