Rapco 1811/1812 Series
Battery Support units
THESE DEDICATED BATTERY SUPPORT UNITS PROVIDE REGULATED
DC POWER
FOR RAPCO 1804, 1814, OR 2804 GPS TIME AND FREQUENCY SOURCES.
BATTERY PACKS BUILT FROM ENVIRONMENTALLY-ACCEPTABLE
NICKEL-METAL-HYDRIDE (NiMH) CELLS ARE FITTED, GIVING LOWER WEIGHT AND
HIGHER CAPACITY THAN EARLIER NICAD VERSIONS.
Rack-Mount x 1U Height -- NIMH Batteries -- Auto-Charger
-- Easy Battery-Pack Replacement.
They require only 1U of rack space and can support more than one other piece of
equipment within their total capacity. The internal nickel cadmium cells are
float charged and require a nominal 48 hours to fully recharge from flat. A low
voltage cut-out is fitted to prevent damage to the cells in the event of
extended mains failure.

PRODUCT IDENTITY
There are three subsets of
this product group
| 1811B |
Medium-term support. Typically 6 hours for a GPS/Quartz unit. |
|
For use where power breaks
of significant length are expected, or in some transportable
operations, where it is necessary to move equipment between sites
without loss of power.
|
| 1811C |
Long-term
support. Typically >12 hours for a GPS/Quartz unit. |
|
For use where very long
power breaks are expected, or for overnight support in some
transportable or vehicle installations.
|
|
| 1812B
|
Short-term support.
Typically 1 hour for a GPS/Quartz unit. |
|
For use in systems where
back-up power is available from an emergency generator or UPS, but
where there may be short-term drop-outs or where back up supplies
cannot be relied upon to provide seamless support.
|
|
|
All 1811/1812 variants
provide +24V regulated low-noise dc support power to their host units.
They are fitted with built-in automatic chargers and have automatic
low-voltage cut-off to prevent excessive discharge of batteries.
All variants use the same
type of replaceable 9-cell battery pack with high-quality cables and
connectors;
making in-field replacement of battery packs a simple operation.
Solid-state self-resetting
fuses are used to provide protection for battery and regulator circuits.
Front-panel indicators
provide status indication and there is a voltage-free contact alarm output
for remote monitoring of the unit's integrity.
|
A multi-output version is also available.
BATTERY SUPPORT UNIT TYPE - RAPCO 1811C3
This unit is a variant of the generic 1811 series described in an accompanying data sheet.
The 1811C3 has the high capacity battery pack as described for the 1811C, but is fitted with four parallel wired d.c. output connectors for use in systems where the requirement dictates connection to more than one supported equipment.
In addition, the dual voltage 115/230 volt switch fitted on the standard unit is omitted, the unit being configured for operation from 220/230/240V a.c. supplies, 50 or 60Hz, without adjustment.
1812 series of Battery Backup Units
Battery back-up units to support reference sources in the event of temporary power failure.
