Since 1967 RAPCO has specialised in the use of ever advancing technologies in
the design and manufacture of products for widely diverse applications from
mining to military aircraft.
All design is undertaken in-house and the latest CAD systems are exploited to
the full by a team of skilled and dedicated hardware and software engineers. All
products are designed and manufactured to a strict quality control system which
has been approved to BS EN ISO 9001 since 1992.
In the 1970s RAPCO designed and manufactured ruggedised data logging systems
for gathering data in hostile environments. From the data logger's integral
clock there evolved RAPCO'S first timing instrument on which the company's
history of design and manufacture of high quality precision timing products was
founded.
Data acquisition systems have always been a major feature of RAPCO's
expertise and a major market was the coal mining industry for which data
loggers, chart recorders, underground telephone systems and transducers were
produced.
When the British coal industry was privatised and most mines closed, the
market for this specialised instrumentation disappeared and RAPCO decided to
concentrate on the frequency reference and measurement market which, with the
availability of GPS as a precision frequency source, could be incorporated in
the company's existing expertise in the field of precision timing.
RAPCO now produces a range of precision timing and frequency products headed
by the 1804 series which is widely used in the UK and many other
countries as a precision frequency source for digital TV and audio transmission,
cellular communications, military systems and as a precision frequency reference
for calibration laboratories.
RAPCO moved to its present site in Basingstoke in 1971 and has been able to
remain at the same location by acquiring adjoining premises as they became
available.
The company has remained in private ownership and is managed by its directors
who place great emphasis on customer satisfaction.
RAPCO is proud to have as its customers most of the major players in the
fields of broadcasting and communications as well as the prime Defence
contractors.
